Omega is a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded by Louis Brandt in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The company first operated under the name La Generale Watch Co. where Brandt would assemble precision pocket watches. In 1894 Brandt’s sons Louis-Paul and César developed a revolutionary way to manufacture watches with interchangeable parts. Due to the success of these watches, the Omega Watch Co was founded in 1903 as a spinoff from the original company. In 1969 the Omega Speedmaster became the first watch on the moon.
Today Omega is part of the Swatch Group and is one of the most noted watch brands. It is a brand worn by actors, athletes and politicians alike. Even a certain special agent with the license to kill likes to wear an Omega. The brand has also been the official timekeeper of the Olympics since 1932. Some of Omegas most popular models include the Speedmaster and Seamaster.
