MCM is a leather luxury goods brand founded by Michael Cromer in 1976 in Munich. MCM was at its most popular at the end of the 80s and the first half of the 90s, mostly because of its “ostentatious and flashy” look. After investigations of the founder Cromer for alleged tax evasion in 1995 the company took a hard hit. Only after 2005 when MCM was acquired by Sungjoo Group, a South Korean retail business, did the brand start to get back to its glory.
Today MCM is best known for its signature logo-printed material, the Cognac Visetos. Some of MCMs most popular bags today are their Shopper, Drawstring Bag and Backpack. In 2019 MCM announced its collaboration with streetwear brand BAPE.
